London: Printed by William Iaggard, dwelling in Barbican. 1616. 2nd edition (Lowndes 2946; STC 25787) 872 pp. There are four parts: the main dictionary (685 pp.); the dictionary for the Book of Revelation (134 pp.); the dictionary for the Song of Solomon (28 pp.); the dictionary for the epistle unto the Hebrews (19 pp.) Wilson a well-known divine of the 16th & early 17th Century. He authored many theological works, though this monumental effort of his, which initially appeared in 1612, "was the first attempt in English towards a dictionary of the Bible." [per Lowndes]. Further, the DNB notes, "It's usefulness was soon recognized, and it ran through many editions." Despite it's popularity centuries ago, the title now somewhat scarce. This copy has been rebound and lacks the title page and portrait. The book begins with page A4. The cover is rubbed and worn in places.
