Dashiell Hammett
Dashiell Hammett - The Thin Man - HC 1st 1st First STATED - Basis Film
Hammett, Dashiell - The Thin Man - Alfred A Knopf: New York, 1934 - First Edition / First Printing / First State - "First Edition" stated on the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. First state with "seep" for "sleep" on page 209 line 17. "She grinned at me. 'You got types?' / 'Only you darling - lanky brunettes with wicked jaws." The book has light soiling and edge wear. There is also the almost inescapable mottling to the cloth but it is still a mild case. The boards remain straight and clean, the stamping on the covers and spine is bright and vivid, the binding is square and firm, and internally there is one small name neatly penned on the front paste down but it is otherwise free from blemish. An uncommonly attractive example. While The Maltese Falcon is now Hammett's best remembered title The Thin Man was his most commercially successful. Basis for the superb 1934 adaptation and a litany of sequels which would follow from the 1930s through the 1940s. A cornerstone crime/mystery title which is increasingly uncommon in this condition. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted.
