J.R.R. Tolkien
THE LORD OF THE RINGS J.R.R. Tolkien First Edition, First Print Impression
1954. Rare early set of books. J.R.R Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Fellowship First Edition, fifth impression, November 1956 published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. The dust jacket is in good condition 6th impression which is often the case with Tolkien books early surplus books where given new jackets at times, it has been protected in removable protective paper and film, is firmly bound. The book is in a good condition. The pages are in good condition and the fold-out map inside back cover is intact. The Two Towers, second impression 1955 published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. The dust jacket is in reasonable condition but needs it's protective archive film/acid free paper protector to hold the front and back together. I considered getting it professionally repaired but the preference from collectors these days is to keep any defects rather than improve the appearance but lose the originality. The Return of the King is a First Edition FIRST IMPRESSION! published 1955 by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. The jacket on this one is in much better condition but does have chipping/loss to the lower spine area in particular. You wont find early sets like this at this kind of price for long. When the Amazon Tolkien shows start getting hyped it is expected that rare Tolkien books (and you don't get much rarer than books printed the very first year The Lord of The Rings was published!) will jump in value as they did when the films came out. Will be sent fully insured and well packaged via Royal Mail Special Delivery. Any questions? Please ask. [Attributes: First Edition; In Dust Jacket]
