String tied, black cloth boards with gilt decorations. Contains 442 gelatin silver black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 2.5" x 2" and 9.5" x 7" with captions. Bumped corners with string binding undone, very good with fine photographs. A photo album of documenting a young woman and her family's travels around the east coast and mid-west of the United States from 1918 through 1937. There are several pages dedicated to the young man and his family traveling to various places along the east and mid-west such as Ocean City, New Jersey; Gas City, Chicago; Detroit, Michigan; Indiana, and Ohio. Each location has a page in the album of its own with hand cut pictures in different shapes including diamonds, circles, and decorative edges. There are charming illustrations done in white pencil, framing pictures, adding embellishments, small designs, and information about the places traveled to and the people in the photographs. Additionally, there are magazine cut outs of children, flowers, and animals used to decorate around the photographs. While the young girl is not named, there is a picture of her lounging at the bottom of a family genealogy page, "Well! Well! Look!" captioned below. The pictures are well composed and often show the full landscape of the areas visited, with architecture, statues, and monuments as the main focus of the shots, one of which is the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
