Bertrand Louis
Cardénio, L' Man Aux Ribbon Colours Of Feu
Librairie hachette, 1933. In-8 (13.5 x 19.5 cm), publisher's binding, 256 pages, illustrations in black by Pécoud. This so-called "Jotau" binding was made in burgundy pollopas, plates articulated by "piano" type hinges, edges of the bevelled covers, title and author engraved on a polished steel plate on the back and on the front cover. The third plate bears the name Jotau (pseudonym of Joseph Taupin, inventor of this binding, circa 1920-1930) as well as the mention "patented SGDG" which suggests - wrongly - that the binding was the subject of a registered patent. . This type of binding was quickly abandoned because of its manufacturing cost and its fragility; some small marks of friction on our copy, whose corners and hinges are otherwise intact. Good condition. In-8 (13.5 x 19.5 cm), publisher's binding, 256 pages, illustrations in black by Pécoud.
