SJ014: 10 Vol. Jacob Abbott Franconia Series Books, Frances Glessner Lee Library
1850. Generally excellent condition with some volumes having some fraying near top and bottom of spine. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS ABOVE. IMPORTANT: I will be listing in the coming days numerous items from the estate of a descendant of Dr. Lincoln Ripley Stone. Dr. Stone was a Civil War surgeon with the 54th Massachusetts (the African-American regiment led by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and featured in the film "Glory"). Also included will be items from the estate of John Jacob Glessner (of International Harvester and The Glessner House, Chicago fame). Descendants of the Stones and Glessners ultimately married. This auction features 10 Volumes of Jacob Abbott's Franconia Series Books. Based on the estate these came from they were almost certainly from the library of Frances Glessner Lee, although there are no bookmarks or signatures to indicate it. The Glessner's had a summer home in New Hampshire named "The Rocks". The books date from 1850 to 1870 are in generally excellent condition with some volumes having some fraying near top and bottom of spine. All were published by Harper & Brothers. IMPORTANT: INSURANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ITEMS (OR COMBINED ITEMS) WITH A FINAL VALUE OF $100.00 OR MORE. Buyer pays shipping (varies based on address of winning bidder and amount of insurance). NY residents add 8% sales tax. Payment required within 2 days of end of auction.
