Arbuthnot, John]
John Bull Still in his Senses: being the third part of Law is a Bottomless Pit. Printed for a manuscript found in the cabinet of the famous Sir Humphry Polesworth: and publish'd (as well as the two former parts) by the author of the New Atalantis
printed for John Morphew, near Stationer's-Hall, London, 1712. Second edition. 47, [1, ads] pp. 1 vols. Dated by the first purchaser at the foot of p. [3] "Aprl. 16, 1712", the date of publication (see Bower & Erickson). This is the third of Arbuthnot's series, in Bower & Erickson's permutation (b), i.e., with p. 25 in the corrected state and p. 27 uncorrected. Obviously if this copy was bought on the day the pamphlet was published, there is unlikely to be any important difference between the sequence in which the various states were issued. The reference to Mary Manley's New Atlantis was plainly intended to disguise Arbuthnot's authorship. Rothschild 40; ESTC T29120
