BARLOW, Thomas
1693 Thomas Barlow Genuine Remains anti POPE Antichrist Gunpowder Treason
London: for John Dunton, 1693. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. Thomas Barlow was a 17th-century English bishop and scholar who was one of the most staunch anti-Papal Calvinists of the 1600s. Barlow, who supported the rise of James II of England, made a clear name for himself by consistently referring to the pope as the 'Antichrist'. Even the book 'Genuine Remains of Thomas Barlow' uses the term 'antichrist' when referring to the Pope. This collection of letters covers many treasonous and controversial events including the Gunpowder Treason and Plot, heresies of the Catholic Church, and even commentary on Baxter's "Saints Everlasting Rest".
