Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) wrote numerous novels and plays for both children and adults, but he is best known for "Peter Pan", a hugely successful play set in the magical world of Neverland; the play has been performed many times and has been adapted in films and literary works. "The Little White Bird" is a novel composed of various short episodes taking place in day-to-day London and the fantasy world that lies beneath Kensington Gardens; the book features the first appearance of the beloved character Peter Pan, and these parts of the book were later reproduced as "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens", with illustrations by Arthur Rackham. This volume is the first edition of "The Little White Bird", printed in 1902, and is inscribed by J. M.
