James Joyce Dubliners - 1922 1st Egoist Press Edition (One of 500 Copies)
James Joyce's Dubliners. 1922. 3rd edition, or the 1st Egoist Press edition. Not the 'Second Edition' as erroneously stated on the copyright page, as it was preceded by the first & second editions published by Grant Richards in 1914 & 1918 respectively. One of only 500 copies. Hardback bound in black cloth with gilt titles to the spine and Jonathan Cape icon blind-stamped to rear board. Boards are good for their age, with fairly mild signs of handling and expected pressing to corners and spine. A trace of scuffing to corners. Pages are clean and bright, with no foxing to speak of and no inscriptions. 1000 sheet sets of the American edition were imported by the Egoist Press, of which 168 were bound up for sale in their green cloth binding. 500 sets of sheets were on hand when the Egoist Press disposed of the book to Jonathan Cape in 1924, this copy being one of the latter. Tanned pages. No inscriptions. One or two mild cracks in the gathers. Binding perhaps a little "shaken", but not to any serious degree. The only other two copies available online at the time of listing are priced at around £900. International shipping prices are quotes, and for the US only. The actual Printed Paper rate may be less, but I will only know the exact price at the time of shipping and not before. For this reason I will usually overcharge and refund the difference afterwards. European shipping will be considerably cheaper than quoted, sometimes by around 50%. Please ask me for an exact quote if you want to know beforehand.
