DEANE, Samuel
1797 New England Farmer American Agriculture Farming Gardening Thomas Jefferson
Worcester, Mass: At the Press of Isaiah Thomas, 1797. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. Samuel Deane's "The New England Farmer" is a late 18th-century agriculture dictionary designed for farmers. When it was first released, it was the first book dedicated solely to American farming and gardening. While it was popular in 1790, this 1797 edition propelled its popularity much in part to being published by Isaiah Thomas. This work was commonly owned by American forefathers, including Thomas Jefferson who referenced it for his 1811 propositions for Agricultural Society of Albermarle.
