Aga Heat Limited - Cookery Advisory Department, 1869. The AGA cooker was created by Swedish Nobel Prize winner, Physicist and engineer Nils Gustav Dalen (1869-1937). Although the AGA is now considered a luxury item, when first introduced, it became Britain's preferred cooking source for farms and the more isolated areas where gas and electric were in short supply. The classic AGA models where well known for the an interesting attribute - the stove was always on. (Newer models offer more control and con be shut-off). AGAs are unique in that they contain at least two consistently heated ovens: one for high-temperture roasting and one for slow cooking. Ambrose Heath was the pen name of the journalist Gerald Miller (1891-1969), writing cookery columns for a number of newspapers including the Morning Chronicle and the Manchester Guardian. Ten Monthly Menus - 20.5 x 13 cm. Heath, Ambrose. The first five: June, July, August, October and December 1935 - illustrated with a headpiece on page [2] by Edward Bawden reproduced with the permission from Heath's More Good Food from Aga, Faber & Faber. The second five: have woodcut on page [1] "specially cut by Reynolds Stone" and are for the months of May-August, 1936, plus a stapled [8]-page "Autumn Dishes" - most of these menus are in a accordion fold of 3 leaves. Menus contain either recipes, historical notes, or a description of the dishes listed.
