J.K Rowling
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone
Scholastic Press, 1998. First edition. First printing, in the first issue dust jacket, with all points present. Inscribed by Rowling on the half-title verso: for Grace Riley / best wishes / J.K Rowling. The signed page opened slightly forcefully. Two tiny hints of soiling to the outer text block edges, all but noticeable. A very fine, unread copy, opened only once for signing. Originating from Rowling s visit to Anderson s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois, on the 19th of October, 1998 (Anderson s bookmark laid in, as well a letter of provenance from the original recipient). Rowling had begun touring America to promote her first book, as Harry Potter was still unknown to American children at the time. Some signing events drew as few as five people, though the visit to Anderson s saw over one hundred local children attend in likely the first instance of Harry Potter fandom in America. Of course, Harry Potter would quickly become an extraordinary success, and soon the best selling series of books in history. A truly beautiful copy, one of very few inscribed, with provenance to the month of publication. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
Bookseller: Canton Books [Princeton, NJ, U.S.A.]
