Vol. I – (4), 790pp; Vol. II – 885pp plus Directions to the binder. Closed tear at page 29 which has been repaired, impacting the text. Frontispieces both volumes and additional engraved title page Volume I. Additional engraved plate to page 65 of Volume 1. 108 plates in total including the 2 frontispieces. 108 engraved plates. Mild toning or an occasional spot of foxing and offsetting to the pages opposite the plates. Bound in full reverse calf (a suede type feel), re-backed in reverse calf to match with original title labels on the new spines. Approximately 10 ¾ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine – good condition – new spines to the original boards, original title labels attached. Joints – good condition – sound. Corners – good condition – worn and bumped. Boards – good condition – edge worn. Page edges – good condition – slightly darkened. See above and photos. Internally Hinges – good condition – sound, solid and strong repaired in the rebinding. Paste downs – good condition – marbled. End papers – good condition – marbled. Title – good condition – gently tanned with some foxing.
