1911. Verne, Jules and Horne, Charles (Editor) Works of Jules Verne - COMPLETE IN 15 VOLUMES Published in New York in 1911 by by Vincent Parke and Company. This set is the "Edition d'Amiens." HARDCOVER. Bound in original ¾ red leather with red cloth boards and marbled end papers. Gilt edging delineates between the leather spine/corners and the cloth boards. Five raised bands on spines, along with four illustrations in gilt between the bands: a flying machine at the top, an elephant, a boat or ship and a hot air balloon at the bottom. Below the flying machine are the words "Jules Verne" and the volume number in gilt. Below the elephant is listed the various works in that particular volume. First limited Prince Edward of Wales edition, one of 500 numbered sets, this set unnumbered, the limitation page signed by the registrar R. G. Lancaster. This edition includes 36 novels and short stories, including Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Center of the Earth, and Around the World In Eighty Days, as well as the first edition in English of Verne's later novel, The Master of the World, preceding the first separate English and American editions of 1914. Engraved color portrait of the Prince of Wales to limitation leaf of volume one, engraved color, sepia, and black and white frontispieces with captioned tissue guards to each volume, numerous plates in the contents. Some nicks to leather, mostly to the raised bands on the spines. Wear to the leather at the top of the spines. The front cover of one volume is detached but present.
