Daphne du Maurier
Daphne du Maurier: Rebecca - First Edition
Victor Gollancz Ltd. First edition, first impression (Gollancz, 1938). A slip signed, inscribed and dated by the author is loosely laid-in. Adapted on several occasions for stage and television with a further film adaptation due in October 2020. Publisher's original black cloth with lettering to spine and upper board in gilt. A very good copy with a little light marking to rear board, usual spotting to edges and, much more occasionally, to contents, primarily to preliminaries and closing pages; free from previous owner names and inscriptions. Some browning to the spine panel of the dust jacket with chipping to head and foot; closed tear to spine head; a little chipping to corners with a couple of small holes to upper panel fore-edge; moderate marginal toning to lower panel.
