Language: German Order number: 127425 Comments: * Stammhammer I, 19: Nettlau, p. 42. - First edition, very rare. - Mikhail Alexandrovich Bakunin, (1814-1876) was a Russian revolutionary and anarchist. He is considered one of the most influential thinkers, activists and organizers of the anarchist movement. Bakunin originally came from an old Russian noble family, but he eluded the life and the military in Russian service and made his way as a math teacher. In 1840 he came to Berlin and got to know the great thinkers and philosophers of the Vormärz and was committed to socialism. After the outbreak of the February Revolution in France in 1848, Bakunin returned to Paris and took part in the revolutionary struggle. As a co-organizer of the uprising in Dresden in May 1849, he was finally arrested, sentenced to death several times and finally extradited to Russia, where he was sentenced to life in prison and 1857 to life in exile to Siberia. There he managed to escape in 1861 and returned to Europe via Japan and America, where he continued to work politically in England, Sweden and finally in Switzerland. - Slightly browned (title page stronger), overall in good condition.
