Germany Hamburg: 1910. Condition >>> VIDEO Click >>>> Henry Bernhard Simms (* 1861, † 1922) was a German entrepreneur and art collector. As a collector, he maintained close contact with numerous artists at home and abroad and created one of the most important collections of modern painting of his time. The focus of this collection included larger groups of works by Max Beckmann and Lovis Corinth, but also early works by Pablo Picasso were in his possession. Simms published his book My Pictures in a private edition for friends and business partners. The edition was 500 pieces. He narrates his memories and thoughts about art and artists in a diary-like narrative style. He reports on trips and art purchases, encounters with artists and individual works of art. In the second part of the volume, Simms adds a representative cross-section of his collection to his very personal, often judgmental statements. The book is Very Good Condition, solid clean pages no writing, no tear off or damage - very little slightly brownish. Cover has plastic sleeve - sharp edges no damage. In the book inserted - little piece of newspaper, looks like a death certificate and little card named Simms in German handwriting.
