1945. Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition 9th Printing Signed and inscribed by Bill Wilson to Dick Barmity. Dick Barmity was the author of an article in the December 1945 Grapevine as well as the January 1946 Reader's Digest. This book comes with the original Reader's Digest from January 1946 that includes the article written by Dick B. Also included are typed papers from a previous owner of this book that includes an entire back story behind this book. The inscription by Bill reads: "Dear Dick Barmity - In grateful remembrance of your recovery and your account of it in Reader's Digest - Merry Christmas Bill Wilson Dec/1945" also below Bill's inscription there is writing in a different pen: "New York City - 415 Lexington" The inscription is dated December 1945 which was one month prior to the official public release of the 9th printing Big Book(January 1946) as well as a month prior to the release of the Reader's Digest article. In the Dick Barmity article titled "My Return from the Half-World of Alcoholism", he tells the story of his struggles with alcoholism and coming to find sobriety through daily correspondence through mail with Alcoholics Anonymous headquarters in New York City! First Edition conditions: This book is in good condition but has experienced some wear. It comes with a reproduction dust jacket. The cover of the book has wear from rubbing, bumped corners, and fading to the spine. There is a damaged portion of pages 22-23 from what appears to them being stuck together at one point.
