Wandlungen und Symbole er Libido, Carl Jung. First Edition in Book Form.
Leipzig und Wien: Franz Deuticke, 1912. Wandlungen und Symbole der Libido: Beiträge zur Entwicklungsgeschichte des Denkens Carl Jung First edition of Carl Jung's first book on psychoanalytic theory, which introduced the idea of the collective unconscious and marked a dramatic break from the psychoanalytic tradition of Sigmund Freud. Rather than focusing on psychopathology and symptoms, Jung instead studied dreams, mythology and literature to explore the universal patterns of the psyche. It was translated four years later into English as Psychology of the Unconscious. Leipzig und Wien: Franz Deuticke, 1912. pp. [2], 422 pp; period quarter cloth & moltled boards, spine lettered in gilt. Front endpaper appears to have been removed, a portion of each pastedown near joints beginning to lift, small bookshop sticker removed from rear pastedown, nearly imperceptible archival tape repair to fore-edge of title page, else clean. Boards show shelfwear and rubbbing, mainly to extremities, with one corner lightly frayed. Scarce.
