[circa 1940s]. Very Good. Softcover. Oblong folio measuring 15" x 10". String-tied black cloth over paper boards with "post cards" stamped in gilt on the front board. Contains 176 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs most measuring 3.5" x 6" without captions. Very good photo album with worn edges and tears with near fine photographs. A collection of handsome amateur photographs of a couple from New England and their family around the 1940s. Many of the photos show a young woman and her older husband enjoying boating and the coast of New England. They are pictured in their boat posing in captains hats and smoking pipes as well as on the shore posing on beaches and in tiny row boats. The young woman was the main subject for many of the photos and appears to be younger than her husband. He captures her in numerous portraits throughout their travels from photos of her posing at the wheel of their boat in cute nautical-theme clothing to photos of her in fancy dresses in hotels and restaurants. She is also seen working on the dock in a sailor hat pulling up an anchor and rowing a small boat. There are also photos of large cruise ships taken from the docks as they disembarked and images of coastal towns in the distance. One section of photos shows a trip to a waterfall though it is not identified. Towards the end of the album the photos move inland to family houses and photos of visiting relatives.
