Includes the first American printing of the 1793 French Constitution along with a collection of important documents relating to it. The editor, Maria Aletta Hulshoff, was a radical pacifist and in her preface states that she hopes "that this compilation may contribute to eradicate from the minds of some Republicans in this Country their incorrect ideas respecting the political conduct and views of some of the renowned men who were conspicuous in the French Revolution.".
