London: A.J. Valpey, 1834. History of England by Hume and Smollett with A Continuation by The Rev. T.S. Hughes Twenty-One Volume Set, A.J. Valpy, London, 3/4 leather, illustrated, 12mo. In fair condition. All exhibit relatively similar condition reports. All boards are attached and intact. Boards show typical wear along edges and corners. Light water damage to set that have effected spines and permeated text blocks. No blooms have occurred and all pages are legible. Light rippling throughout. Bindings are tight and intact. Please see photos. The History of England is David Hume's great work on the History of England, which he wrote in installments while he was librarian to the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh. Hume's History spanned "from the invasion of Julius Caesar to the Revolution of 1688" and went through over 100 editions. Many consider it the standard of history of England in its day.
