Ambrose Bierce
The Collected Works of Ambrose Bierce; Neale Pub. Dark Green 3/4 Leather, 1909
The Collected Works of Ambrose Bierce; Neale Publishing, New York and Washington. 1909-1912. 12-volumes, complete! Near Fine**. 3/4 dark green morocco binding with green marbled boards, and pastedowns. As is typical of green leather a number of the volumes have turned brown over time. Please see photos to see the variation in the color of the spines. **Bindings tight, contents clean and bright. Leather has sustained small loss on a few volumes, and some rubbing in spots. Overall, however, this is a very beautifully bound set, with floral gilt decorations on four of the spine compartments. Bierce produced a short story called "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge". The story was made into a short film, which won an Academy Award, and was a Cannes Film Festival winner as well. It was featured on a special edition of The Twilight Zone, hosted by Rod Serling, which I had the pleasure of seeing first run on television many years ago. His stories are very, very creative. One of the best sets of this enigmatic writer you will find on the internet right now. Book dimensions: 6 1/8" x 8 3/4".
