An original illuminated talismanic manuscript from Persia [Qajar Iran], dated 1264 AH [1847/8 CE].
1847. It is business as usual and we continue to ship all around the UK and the world. Manuscript scroll, written in black ink on paper in Persian and Arabic. Made up of several conjoined sheets, the text between black and orange rules, and decoration in various shades of orange including headpiece. illuminated with a vignette of King Solomon (crowned and haloed, and mounted on a horse) above a horned demon, and 2 vignettes comprising calligraphic shahadah within cusped quatrefoil surrounded by 4 stylised bird motifs. Size: 166.5cm x 7.8cm. Good only condition. Some loss to bottom corner, but no text affected. Head slightly trimmed. Some soiling to reverse at foot of scroll, and less so to verso. Some edge-wear. Paper residue on recto of scroll from previous mounting. Slightly rubbed or smudged in places. Colouring rather faded. A few abrasions towards foot obscuring a few words, Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images.
