Ttichener, Edward Bradford
Experimental Psychology: A Manual of Laboratory Practice Vol. 1 Qualitative Experiments, Instructor's Manual (Signed)
Los Angeles: Macmillan, 1901. Hardcover. Good. No edition stated, likely a first edition. 456 pp. Full bound with brown cloth covered boards. A well-used copy with edges worn and frayed, the binding is cracked with no loose pages. Thus, G+/. Fine (F) is our highest grade. Titchner's student Edwin Boring's signature appears on the FFEP. A line is drawn through the signature and "Psychological Laboratory, Clark University" appears above the signature. A bookplate from the Psychology Department at Clark University is affixed to the front paste down. Boring was a professor at Clark before he moved to Harvard. Boring's "History of Experimental Psychology" is widely viewed as establishing the History of Psychology as a recognized sub-field within Psychology. The extensive treatment given to Titchener and Titchener's Structuralist school of psychology in Boring's "History" played a significant role in promoting Structuralism. This appears to be Boring's personal copy which was donated to Clark University and as such is an important document in the history of psychology. (22600)
