Patrick Chamoiseau
CHEMIN-D"ECOLE (trans: School Days) #29 of 32 Patrick Chamoiseau (author Texaco)
France: Gallimard, 1994. PLEASE note this book is in French. It is the first edition one of 32 numbered copies and in simply Fine, Beautiful condition with uncut pages and the original glassine protective cover. see photos. Born in Martinique (and living there now) Chamoiseau has established a considerable reputation studded with numerous literary awards. His novel "Texaco" won the Prix Goncourt and this book was his next offering. The story of school days in Fort-de-France. He is known and celebrated for Creole culture including African roots but less than indigenous culture. Of course especially now when all the world is more aware of histories besides the dominate (heel on your face, as Orwell might put it) power's take on history. To his credit there is more powerful eloquence than blame and anger. Perhaps watch for him winning the Noble Prize in Literature one of these days. This book for book collectors is like the holy grail because it is a first edition of an important book in the astonishing limitation of 32 copies and it is in pricing condition. How can you top that? Oh, sure, get him to sign it. But until then what a great item. Published in 1994, 189 pages. Sorry, sorry, Because of the current situation I am offering this exclusively to U.S. Buyers. Plus FRANCE. [Attributes: First Edition]
