The book of Dr. Wilhelm Haake -Origin of the animal world.1902 year.
The book is in excellent condition for his age. Intravital Edition. St. Petersburg, 1902. Publishing Partnership "Enlightenment". A book with 1 painting in colors, 469 artistic illustrations in the text, 9 black paintings carved in wood and 11 chromolithographs by R. Koch, V. Kunert and G. Mutzel. Owner's binding with a leather spine and "corners". Good safety. Wilhelm Haake (1855-1912) - one of the most famous European zoological scientists, doctor of sciences. In the preface to his book, W. Gaake wrote: "With this book I want to offer the educated public an exposition of the doctrine of the development of the animal world, the main task of which is not to create a general theory and not to fill in wide gaps in the animal system, but to link individual zoological disciplines and in proving the main provisions of the theory with the help of numerous facts, with the deep conviction that all specialties into which zoology has disintegrated in modern times form one large organic whole. Of course, I myself, more than anyone else, realize how far fulfillment is from what was intended. The purpose of the essay encourages us, in presenting certain groups of facts, to hold on solid ground, established theoretical views. Here we had in mind the application, but not the establishment of a theory that would link individual facts to each other.
