Consilia Bartholomei Montagnane. Tractatus Tres de balneis Patavinis. De co[m]positione et dosi medicinarum. Antidotarium eiusdem. Venice: Ottaviano Scoto for Boneto Locatello, 2 August 1497. A thick volume in-folio, later binding alla monastica (half calf on wooden boards), ties and clasps preserved, ff. 387 [1]. Gothic types 180 G, 130 G and 74 G, text on two columns, 66 lines. Large woodcut device on last leaf. Numerous woodcut headletters. Scarce and sumptuous Medical incunabulum containing Montagnana's collected works. Content: 1. The first work is the «Consilia» («Advices»), the largest ever published work of Medical Advices: with over 400 advices Montagnana is, with his colleague Cermisone, the most fruitful writer of «Advices» of the fifteenth century and can be considered as the systematizer of this kind of scientific writing. The advices, drawn up by Montagnana after an autoptic visit or after the treating doctors had informed him of the disease, are intended for the most noble and illustrious clientele not only of the Friuli and Veneto provinces, but also of the Roman Curia and German aristocracy, that many of his German students who returned home after studying in Padua were treating.
