An in-depth instructional guide with advice on domestic duties - morning to night, both large and small concerns, when and how these duties should be carried out as well as special occasion tasks - always keeping in mind the various members of the household while being invisible to those you serve. The author conveys the differences between the cook-maid and the maid-of-all-work. Anna Marie Sargeant (1809/10-1852) was a contributor to the publications Chambers' Journal and The Belle Assemblée and wrote an assortment of poems, children's lessons, and moral essays. Binding extremities worn with soiling and a handful of chips and tears. Spine perished. A good copy of a scarce, fragile work. Publisher's illustrated paper wrappers. Good.
