Nameplate on the front pastedown of each volume for George Warren Hammond (1833-1908), the manager of various paper mills, chemistry student specializing in paper manufacture, and member of the Maine Legislature and Maine Board of Agriculture. A student of botany, Mr. Hammond no doubt enjoyed the stunning portrayals of North American trees found in these volumes. Faint dampstaining and spotting to the preliminaries of Vol. I, and front board of this volume reattached by a conservator. Japanese tissue repair to the top of the spine of Vol. III. Embossed morocco with gilt lettering on the spine. All edges gilt. (American Society of Mechanical Engineers Transactions, Volume 30 pp. 1214-1215 accessed 11/1/2019). Very Good binding.
