Glasgow: Blackie And Son. The Works of Robert Burns w/Essay By Professor Wilson Two Vols (1847). These have been in my private collection for many years. The covers on both volumes do not stay in place very well, as you can see in the photo someone attempted many years ago to repair it using some crude tape, it holds that volume. The binding on one volume remains very loosely connected to the spine, but only just. Despite that, it was still easy and not a risk to lay flat and turn the pages (which I tried to do as little as possible to take the photos.) It appears this edition was printed in Glasgow! The covers and inside few first pages are spotted from what looks like moisture stains, but not enough that it ruins any of those pages or early lithographs. I can provide more photos of the lithographs from this edition because they are stunning in their detail. You'll see they have been pressed against the tissue pages for so long they have left a slight faded watermark at times (examples of that shown in first and second photos.) This is an excellent candidate for rebinding if the right expertise is interested in them. As far as I can tell this is truly one of a kind right now, I have been unsuccessful in finding another 1847 edition of this Blackie and Son set anywhere.These are only being sold as a set, not separately.
