Daphne Du Maurier
The Scapegoat/Du Maurier First Edition! Signed! Super Scarce!
USA: Doubleday, 1957. Near Fine/Very Good Signed! Stated First Edition; A Near Fine book in a Very Good dust jacket. SIGNED and inscribed by the author on the title page. An excellent copy of this novel by one of the great authors of the 20th century, particularly known for "Rebecca"; this is the first US edition which seems to be much harder to find than the UK edition, exceedingly scarce in this condition and signed. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright spine lettering, and clean white pages; minor shelf wear to the spine ends and some light discoloration to the free papers are present, else fine. Housed in a very good dust jacket that is clean and bright but does show moderate rubbing and chipping to the ends, edges, and corners (no loss of material), a few closed tears to the bottom edge of the front panel and the front flap fold, mild creasing along the top edges and folds, and some light foxing to the spine and back panel. Not price clipped ($3.95 intact) and not ex-library. Overall, an outstanding copy of a very scarce book that is a must for the Du Maurier fan or the 20th century literature collector! Protected in a fresh mylar cover. [Attributes: First Edition; In Dust Jacket]
