Willa Cather
Willa S Cather - O Pioneers! - 1st 1st FIRST STATE w/ "O." Touching - 1913
Cather, Willa S. - O Pioneers! - Houghton Mifflin: Boston, 1913 - First Edition / First Printing / First State - Matching dates present on the title and on the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. First issue with the vertical ribbed brown cloth, "Willa S Cather" on the front and spine, and the period after "CO" touching the "O" on the foot of the spine. "Isn't it queer: there are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years." The book has rubbing (most notable to the spine ends), shelf wear, sunning to the spine, dulling and loss of the spine lettering, and lean. There is a name neatly penned on the front end page but otherwise the book is rather clean internally. While this copy does have short comings the boards remain mostly straight, the lettering on the front panel is bright and clean, and the binding is still firm. A solid copy of a scarce novel to find in the correct first state. This was Cather's second novel, and her first in her Great Plains trilogy which includes The Song of the Lark and My Ántonia. Adapted into a largely forgotten 1992 Hallmark film and basis for an opera. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted. Shipping costs can be combined if multiple purchases are made. Items will be packaged and shipped … [Click Below for Full Description]
