Bernays, Edward L
New York: Horace Liveright, 1928. New York: Horace Liveright. Near Fine. 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [a nice clean copy, with just a touch of wear to cloth at spine ends; also note that its original owner (for reasons unknown) affixed a small gummed circle (a hole reinforcer) to the spine, just beneath the title/author imprint (it's quite likely this could be removed, but might leave a small scar or blemish); also present on the front pastedown is the bookplate of the book's original owner, M-G-M writer/producer Carey Wilson]. One of the most influential (and not necessarily in a good way) books of the twentieth century, by the man widely considered to be "the father of public relations." Here's a good quote about him, shamelessly swiped from Wikipedia: "It is impossible to fundamentally grasp the social, political, economic and cultural developments of the past 100 years without some understanding of Bernays and his professional heirs in the public relations industry. PR is a 20th-century phenomenon, and Bernays . . . played a major role in defining the industry's philosophy and methods." And you just gotta love that jaunty font they used on the front cover -- 'cause propaganda's kinda fun, I guess? (Goebbels certainly thought so.) .
