Chippendale's One Hundred and Thirty-Three Designs of Interior Decorations in the Old French & Antique Styles, for Carvers, Cabinet Makers, Ornamental Painters, Etc. [Incomplete, rebound -- see below]

Decorated red leather boards; somewhat rubbed and marked; stitched binding intact, though fragile; gilt decoration and titling dull, but legible. 42 b/w illustrations: Title page (showing an organ -- see below) and 41 plates (nos 6-46). There are handwritten notes on the front and rear endpapers. The front endpaper reads: This volume contains greater part of "Chippendale's One Hundred and Thirty-Three Designs of Interior Decorations etc." published by John Weale (no date). The full work, which is reproduced in John Weale -- Old English and French Ornaments etc -- 1858/9, consists of fifty plates including the title and the plate of an organ, which appears to have acted as a title page to this volume for some time. Here are found one hundred and eleven designs on forty-two plates." And the note on the rear endpaper reads: "This book was bought in the Farringdon Road in June 1951 for 10/- [50p, ed]. It was rebound in August 1951 at a cost of 10/6 [52 1/2p] by Mr A.C. Hunt of 82 Charing Cross Road, who preserved as far as possible what remained of the earlier binding.
