Printed for John Starkey, and Thomas Basset at the Mitre near, 1669. The Second (English) Edition Corrected. Leather-bound. Large quarto, 12 1/2" x 8". Calf in catspaw patterned boards, apparently rebacked, with red spine label, double ruled in gilt. Engraved title 6 folding maps, all of which are in excellent condition, except the map of Muscovy, which has a 5-inch horizontal tear which appears easily repairable by skilled hands. 2 portraits; The section on the Indies shows handwritten reference terms in the margin (egs. "Climate", "Fidelity" or, concerning the burning of cow-dung for heat, a comment that "It does not stink"). Several pages of (later) study notes at rear and a bit of mathematical ciphering to last page. Very nice condition. Very Good. Second edition of a translation first published in 1662, translated by . John Davies, from a 1659 version in French. The original German texts appeared in 1656 and 1658.
