London: Oxford University Press, 1941. 1st Edition. xiv, 155pp. Octavo. Illustrated dust jacket over orange cloth boards with titles in gilt and black to front board and spine. Sunning to edges of boards where jacket is chipped. Head and tail of spine lightly bumped. Slight lean to spine. Previous owner's signature and date on ffep and some offsetting from something previous stored in the book, else internally clean (with a few small spots to margin of page 75). Jacket with creasing and a few large (less than 2") chips to edges. Folds of jacket flaps rubbed. Signed and dated (1942) by Emily Carr on the ffep. good to very good A series of stories of the West Coast First Nations by the great Canadian painter, written while she lived with them. Illustrated with 4 colour reproductions of Carr's work. Emily Carr is a Canadian icon and one of the first painters to usher modernism and post-impressionism to Canada.
