BLACK BESS (1-160) Ed Viles +15 xtrare 1866 pullout posters vgc. Penny Dreadful.
London: Harrison of Fleet Street, 1866. Two volumes re-bound to high professional standard in luxury hard covers with lush leather spine & gilt titles. Exterior Fine. Interior Penny Dreadfuls vgc with occasional fingermarks: Vol1 2 tiny splash-marks at bottom, a few pages have closed edge tears, 2 very light penmarks on one page; Vol2 has light water stains to just a few page edges. The 15 Pullout Posters matching the comic issues included are in variable condition, 9 or 10 being Near Fine with no issues. A few have a spot near the edge, or a fold at corner, or a closed edge tear, though none are badly affected. Claude Duval has suffered the most, a larger square colour poster, it has been sufficiently used to break along the folding edge, though nothing is missing, it is still a complete image as shown. The colour images still have lustre about their surfaces. These posters are in Very Good condition for their age at near 150 years.
