Charles Bukowski
Charles Bukowski - Maybe Tomorrow - 1977 - INSCRIBED - Sparrow 54
Santa Barbara: Black Sparrow Press, 1977. slight toning and wear, very good copy. This consists entirely of poems by Charles Bukowski so it is a proper "A" item and is listed in Krumhansl as #58. It has nine poems by Bukowski published here for the first time. This was the year Bukowski novel "Love is a Dog From Hell" was published. 387 copies of it were signed but "Maybe Tomorrow" had only 20 hardbound with illustration and another 50 signed copies were bound for the complete sets of Sparrows and that's It. Besides the few start copies that got signed. This one is an extraordinary copy because it is signed by Bukowski to his attorney and he'd inscribed the whole front cover including a drawing of a man. It is hard to believe a better copy will come onto the market any time soon. The price reflects its rarity and special association. Yes, of course, getting one of those 20 copies with an original Bukowski illustration would be nice, but meanwhile. [Attributes: First Edition]
