Ellery Queen
Ellery Queen - The French Powder Mystery - HC 1st 1st 1930 Stokes - SCARCE
Queen, Ellery - The French Powder Mystery - Frederick A Stokes: New York, 1930 - First Edition / First Printing - Matching dates present on the title and copyright pages with no mention of later printings as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. The book has some light bumping, general shelf wear, sunning to the spine and some scuffs to the boards. Internally some child in the distant past got ahold of this book and used a pencil to add his flair to it. Someone has done every effort to remove markings internally and done an adequate job but there is still some visible evidence. The most egregious is to the front paste down. There are also Xs which were marked on the first handful of pages which scored through the paper. Those pencil markings aside internally there are a few scattered stains and some tanning. While this copy is far from flawless it is still presentable and readable of what is likely the scarcest of all of the Ellery Queen titles. This was only the second mystery published under the Queen pseudonym. A true scarcity and a cornerstone title of any serious mystery collection. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted. Shipping costs can be combined if multiple purchases are made. Items will be packaged and shipped within one business day unless otherwise noted.
