Ursula K. Le Guin
A Wizard of Earthsea Ursula K. Le Guin 1st Print/2nd State Parnassus 1968 SIGNED
Parnassus Press, 1968. Condition: Like New. Very nice first edition/second state signed by the author on attached plate. A Wizard of Earthsea (the first volume of the Earthsea series followed by The Tombs of Atuan and The Farthest Shore) by Ursula K. Le Guin First Edition - First Printing - Second State Parnassus Press 1968 Illustrated by Ruth Robbins. Blue-green boards with embossed title on the front. "11 up" shown on upper corner dust jacket flap probably indicating the minimum age of potential readers, 205 pages on better quality paper. NOTE: Does NOT have vertical smudge on the title page and lacks "Library Edition $3.95" on the dust jacket which would be present if this was a first state copy. (A first state copy would be priced at $2500+.) SIGNED/Inscribed by Le Guin on an attached piece of paper to front end-paper. If this was signed directly to the book by Le Guin, I'd probably be asking $1500. Just about Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket. Overall a very pleasing and smart copy with almost NO shortcomings save inevitable aging. A little bit of shelf-wear to the top and bottom spine, and some toning to the spine of the dust jacket. A very clean and presentable copy. Edition information: The first edition of A Wizard of Earthsea is perhaps the most complex of Ursula Le Guin's early titles. The original print-run engaged by Parnassus was 16,200 copies existing in three states. The first state exists in 6800 copies, most of which were sent to libraries and schools, and tend to fetch upwards of $2500+ in near fine or better condition and like dust jacket. Some booksellers have … [Click Below for Full Description]
