Beautiful woodcut engraving on title with exquisite headpiece and woodcut initials in introductory matter. Triple column text clean and legible with the wayward spot or two. Some darkening to the upper edges of the text. Stamp from the Hawk Yard Priory Library on the front recto. Some evidence of early repair including repasted title. A few handwritten marginal notes. A good copy of an excellent early Biblical reference text. Historical Provenance: Not much is known about Clement Cotton except that he was meticulous in his scholarship and was a translator of the works of John Calvin (Lowndes, 1842).
