The Works of James Thompson In two volumes, both dated MDCCLI (1751). Extremely scarce in such good condition. The volumes measure approximately 27 x 11 x 3 centimetres. The title pages state: Dublin: Printed for G. Risk, G. and A. Ewing, and W. Smith, Booksellers in Dame Street, MDCCLI. Both volumes show ownership stickers for Thomas R Hamilton dated 1780. The leather bound volumes show wear and marks. The contents are tight, mostly very clean with a few lightly browned pages. Volume I has 368 pages and includes: - The Seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. - A Hymn - A Poem, Sacred to the Memory of Sir Isaac Newton. - Britannia A Poem, written in the year 1727. - Italy Compared, being the first part of Liberty, a Poem. - Greece, being the second part of Liberty. - Britain, being the third part of Liberty. - To the Memory of the Right Honourable Lord Talbot. - The Castle of Indolence, an Allegorical Poem. - Poems on Several Occasions. Volume II has 348 pages and includes: - Prologue by a Friend. - Sophonisba, A Tragedy. - Epilogue by a Friend. - Prologue by the Author of Eurydice. - Agamemnon, A Tragedy. - Epilogue. - Alfred, A Masque. - Prologue by a Friend. - Epilogue by a Friend. - Edward and Eleonora, A Tragedy. - Prologue. - Tancred and Sigismunda, A Tragedy. - Epilogue. - Prologue. - Coriolanus, A Tragedy. - Epilogue.
