First Separate Edition. Silver-coated paper wrappers and printed in black on the front cover: "CHRISTMAS TREES." 16 pages. Stitched at the centerfold with white thread. The front cover is printed in black with a thick/thin rule extending vertically from top to bottom with "CHRISTMAS TREES" printed on the front cover. Pages 1-4 are blank; on page 5 within a border rule frame of green 6-pointed stars is the Title & Greeting Page as described below; pages 7 through 10 contain Frost's poem, "Christmas Trees"; and page 12 is the colophon decorated with a small green Christmas tree next to which is printed: "Printed with the gracious permission of Mr. Robert Frost, at The Spiral Press"; pages 13-16 are blank. This is one of only 100 copies with the printed greeting on page 5: "CHRISTMAS TREES A POEM BY ROBERT FROST SENT TO YOU WITH HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM NORMA & HERSCHEL BRICKELL" HERSCHEL BRICKELL was head of the Trade Department at Henry Holt and Company, Robert Frost's American publisher. Joseph Blumenthal was the owner/operator of The Spiral Press. While setting the type for the Limited Edition of the 1930 Collected Poems of Robert Frost in late 1929, it occurred to Joe that Robert Frost's poem, "Christmas Trees," would make a most appropriate holiday greeting booklet for his wife and himself.
