A rare first edition of the history and development of the Roman calendar! François Blondel was a French mathematician who studied a variety of topics, including Galilean astronomy - much in part to his meeting and studying with Galileo just before Galileo's death. Blondel's 'Histoire du Calendrier Romain' is a rare 17th-century account of ancient Rome and how they began the western concept of keeping time.
