The book is fragile and in fair/good condition. Handled/used with expected discolouring for age. Creasing throughout, generally light but heavier around strung spine and much heavier to covers diagonally in back bottom left-hand corner (where there are a couple of small tears) and similar (but not so heavy) crease to front bottom right-hand corner. Pages grubby/marked (thumbed) and slightly rippled/wavy. Covers quite worn/rubbed, faded, scuffing/chipping to edges/corners (heavy on spine side), small nibbled bit on front right-hand side and inch and a half split at base of spine. Top piece of Cinderella's head detached although this piece is present and could be repaired. Heavy crease half way down Cinderella's face and this piece is threatening to come apart as the top piece has. DETAILS OF ITEM This listing is for a Cinderella 'Shape Book'. Published in 1860 by Gustav W. Seitz, Hamburg. Soft cover with string binding and size approximately 6.5 x 17.5 cms (longest lengths). 16 pages with two colour illustrations on each page. The text is in English and the book has been written in four-line rhyming stanza's. Each page contains two stanzas' so a total of 32 tell the story. The version varies from the more traditional story line with no fairy godmother, instead a bird at her mother's grave provides Cinderella with her ball gown and accessories, the slipper is gold rather than glass and she eventually marries a king as opposed to a prince.
