The Netherlands-Historian Containing a true and exact Relation of what hath passed in the late Warrs between the King of Great Britain and the French King with their Allyes, against the States Generall of the United Provinces Printed by Stephen Stewart Amsterdam, 1675 First English Edition First English Edition; Bound Full worn contemporary calf. 4 raised bands. Front cover attached by 2 of the 4 sewing threads, so wobbly and a bit fragile. Rear board firmly attached. Small 8vo. Lacks free endpapers. viii,560(2), 16pp. 28 of 29 called for double-page or folding plates (4 portraits, 1 battle scene, the deaths of the DeWitt brothers, etc.).Missing plate #2, a map of fortifications at Rijnberg,Orfoy .Top threads are stretched causing some sections to be nearly pulled loose.Needs resewn. About half of leather spine is chipped away.The Original metal latch which is no longer attached is laid-in loose. Two names inked on the 1/2 title page and original owners names Mary and Henry Bartlett are inked on the title page. Complete but for one plate, text is overall in good readable condition with only mild tanning and foxing. The book is a contemporary history of the Franco-Dutch war,(1672-1674) with plates showing the fortifications of Dutch cities and European heads of state, as well as the dramatic deaths of the DeWitt brothers.
