Strahan and W. Woodfall, Law-Printers to the King's Most Excellent Majesty for T. Cadell, In the Strand, London. Condition, Seller is not a professional book dealer but would rate these four volumes as Good. Please review the eleven photos provided of all sides of the volumes, the four inside cover pages and the main cover page opposite the picture of Justice Blackstone in Volume 1. The bindings are generally firm, although there is some looseness at the top of Volume 1. All pages are in tact and the print is remarkably clear and legible given the publication date. There are no significant tears or folds; there are a few very minor ones. See below regarding readers's markings. As can be seen from the photos, the stamp of a prior owner, Jofeph L Ofte, appears on the inside cover page of each volume. My internet research reveals that he was a minister in 18th Century England, probably the original owner. In Volume 1, on otherwise blank pages inside the front cover, there are written the names of two other prior owners, one of whom was Joseph L. Runnells, Chicago, lll. My internet research reveals that he was a Republican functionary in Iowa who eventually became General Counsel and Chairman of the Board of the Pullman Company. In Volume 1, there are minor pen/pencil markings on p. 40, two underlinings and a word and date written in the margin on p. 97, a very minor pen/pencil mark on p. … [Click Below for Full Description]
