[NOTE: This copy is lacking the first leaf which includes an Imprimatur] Rarely do early printed Bible concordances appear out of original compilation. Usually the author is copying an earlier work and giving no credit to the original author/compiler who, in turn, probably copied their work. Starnes, Robert Estienne's Influence on Lexicography (Univ of Texas, 1963) provides a helpful technique for detecting the original sources of early modern Bible concordances. Sternes investigated entries for selected words observing the exact Biblical quotation chosen. Particularly, he noted the beginning and ending words of the verse citations, which is an editorial choice as rarely are whole verses used in concordances due to space limitations.
